EdgeStar 2.0 Cu. Ft. Washer Dryer Combo Review
The EdgeStar 2.0 Cu. Ft. Washer Dryer Combo is a step up in terms of compact design. Previously, one used to have to buy stack dual unit for a combo washer and dryer. The EdgeStar combines the features of both machines in one. It has seven wash cycles and five spin speeds.
Further the drying feature makes it entirely easy to throw in dirty clothes, run the full cycle, and pull out entirely dry clean clothes without any machine transfer. What a novel idea!
Pros: Extreme space-saving benefits without having two machines.
Cons: When it breaks, the entire system is out of commission, not just the washer or dryer.

While these are technically still two units they can be thought of as a washer dryer combo because they are on one stand and they only take up the space that a single machine would take up. This makes them handy when it comes to saving space. They are however much smaller than your typical sized machine so you will be doing multiple loads whereas using a larger machine you may only be doing one load.
This type of machine is great for those that need a smaller unit but are no prepared to go for a full washer dryer combo. These are also great for small apartments and those that many not have enough money for a traditional washer and dryer. Full Combination Washers & Dryers
For those that are ready to take the plunge, there are machines that are all in one and act as both a washer and a dryer. These are often the best option for those that have little to no space for their washer and dryer and need something that is going to be small and do all the jobs that are needed. So how do they work?
One major consideration when these were being created was of course keeping the heating element out of the water so that there is no danger of an electrical fire or accident. With a traditional non vented combination washer and dryer there are two drums. The first is the inner drum.
The inner drum is what holds the water when the washing cycle is employed. The washing cycle will go through then the water is drained through a drain at the back of the drum.
What about the dryer?
Now the dryer takes over. Hot air is forced into the outer drum where the condensation process is used to cool the air and force the water out of it. The water then leaves the dryer combo through the same drain that the water was taken out of at the start of the cycle.
This seems simple enough and is perfect for those that really want to save space and want to make the most of the area that they have.
Do You Need This Product?
This is a question that you should certainly ask prior to purchase. While some love this machine and are happy with what it does, how much space it saves, etc, others hate the product. If you are used to doing multiple loads of laundry at once with one in the washer and one in the dryer you can forget this unless you buy two units.
This type of machine is certainly limit the number of loads you can do every day as it requires that you wash and dry at the same time tying up both functions.
If you are more concerned with saving space however this is a wonderful option. This does take up one footprint as opposed to having to make space for both. Also many of these machines are going to offer special cycles like steaming which may be beneficial for you delicate items.
No matter what factor you use to justify buying or not buying this product, you need to make sure that a professional installer puts this item in your home.
